'Destiny 2' Shadowkeep: 'Garden Of Salvation' Raid Release Date, World's First And What To Expect

For the hardest of the hardcoreDestiny 2 players, the beginning of a new season/fall release is a race. While mere mortals will probably wait a week or two before trying out the raid if they make it there at all, streamers and other top-tier competitors are getting ready to vie for the coveted title of World's First when the new raid drops. In this case, we're working withThe Garden of Salvation, a Vex-themed raid themed around the Black Garden that we all visited way back in the original campaign for the originalDestiny: it's a throwback.

Garden of Salvation is not available at launch: it will be released on Saturday, October 5. Again, this is really only a consideration for the hardest core players, because it's deeply unlikely that normal players are going to be able to legitimately attempt this on day one, let alone complete it.

That means Saturday kicks off the race for World's First, which comes with an interesting twist this time around. We're getting what Bungie refers to as a "contest modifier", which will cap World's First competitors below the power level for any given encounter, levelling the playing field a little bit and removing one element from the equation. In his extensive pre-Shadowkeep writings Luke Smith talked about balancing the RPG and the action game withinDestiny 2, and a modifier like this essentially makes things a whole lot more action game and a whole lot less RPG, even if particular gear loadouts are still going to be a huge factor.

We don't yet know what the recommended power level for this thing will be, though my guess would be something like 910-920. for early encounters, heading all the way up to 950/960 for the end.

We've actually already got a look at the raid armor for Garden of Salvation, which certainly continues the theme ofShadowkeep of repackaging old content, something I'm definitely not complaining about. It's a retooled version of an old Eververse set with neon detailing and a general Vexification, and you can see it here below:

And so we'll see what happens on Saturday! This is a spectator sport for most people in the early weeks, but I'm excited to hop in once I get up to speed. I haven't been on a raiding kick for a little while in this game, but I'm getting itchy again.
